Happy Release Day to Magan Vernon

Image
The Highly anticipated second book in The My Alien Romance series is here! And I'm excited to be celebrating its release with Magan. Here is a bit about it: Face it, long distance relationships in high school are hard, especially when the other one in the relationship is an alien. Alex Bianchi may have survived an intergalactic battle, but that still doesn't excuse her from her senior year of high school, or qualify her for any sort of scholarship. To make up for college tuition costs, she takes a job at a local coffee shop. If only coffee could solve all of her problems. As Alex's senior year progresses, everything changes and she can't figure out if it is interstellar or if it is just time to break up with an alien. It is available now on Amazon and Smashwords . Check out the series that Lydia Kang, author of The Fountain, calls  "A tiny bit Twilight, A tiny bit Men in Black, and a whole lot of fun!" For a limited time the first book in t

Tuesday Writing Tip~Begin/End

We all know how important the beginning and ending of our novels are. We labor over them until it seems our eyes will bleed. But in doing so we often overlook something that is nearly as important; the beginnings and endings of each chapter. That's right, each chapter. #WriteTip: Dedicate a good amount of time to the beginning and ending of each chapter. They must build tension, carry the story, and just as importantly, the reader along. What about you, any good writing tips this week? How much stock do you put into the beginnings and endings of your chapters?

Random Act Of Kindness/Emotion Thesaurus

Image
A smile. An encouraging word. A thoughtful gesture. Each day people interact with us, help, and make our day a bit brighter and full. This is especially true in the Writing Community .  Take a second to think about writers you know, like the critique partner who works with you to improve your manuscript. The writing friend who listens, supports and keeps you strong when times are tough. The author who generously offers council, advice and inspiration when asked. So many people take the time to make us feel special, don't they? They comment on our blogs, re-tweet our posts, chat with us on forums and wish us Happy Birthday on Facebook. Kindness ROCKS! To commemorate the release of their book The Emotion Thesaurus , Becca and Angela at The Bookshelf Muse are hosting a TITANIC Random Act Of Kindness BLITZ . And because I think KINDNESS is contagious, I'm participating too! I'm blitzing Christine Fonseca because she is an amazing friend and author who has al

Wednesday Writing Goal~A Real Break

This time I mean it, seriously! I'm taking a break this week if it kills me. Okay maybe I won't go that far, but I will do my best to take a break. To Ride A Puca (*whispers:* It's been seen in the wild already in eBook format!) is launching on the 21st and I need to gather my witts (because they're scattered to the winds) and catch my breath before then. You might have noticed that stunning sidebar button for the upcoming tour. Starting May 21st I'll be giving away some amazing signed books by fantastic authors so be sure not to miss it! You might also have noticed the new Contact button located on the bar above. Though it is set up for reviewers, anyone can fill it out if they'd like to get a hold of me for an interview, feature, or if they have a question. I'm knocking out my reading goals like a champ. I finished Beautiful Demons by Sarra Cannon. Loved it! If there are any fans of The Secret Circle out there, you'll love Beautiful Demons (maybe

Artemis Rising Blog Hop

Image
Today I'm excited to be part of Cheri Lasota's blog hop for her fantastic YA novel, Artemis Rising  which is now available in paperback! This story, set in the Azores Islands, weaves two different myths~one Greek, one Arthurian~into a love story set in the 1890s. Intrigued? Read on to learn more from Cheri about the exotic setting of the novel. Cheri: Azores: The Jewel of the Oceano AtlĂąntico I am often asked why I chose to set my novel, Artemis Rising, in the Azores Islands. The answer is quite simple: I used to live there. But that doesn’t really tell the story, does it? To truly describe the love I have for these islands, I have to go back to Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota in 1994. My family had lived there for four long, cold years, and ever since I was a wee tyke growing up in Washington State, I had loved the ocean. I mean LOVED the ocean. Think of your most favorite thing or person in all the world. Can you picture it? Okay, yes, this is exactly how I fel

Sneak Peek at Elle Strauss's New Book

Image
If you haven't heard about the release of Elle Strauss's new book yet, then you're in for a treat. We've got the first chapter right here for you! But first a bit about this sequel to her debut novel, Clockwise: The last year has been smooth sailing for Casey Donovan. She and her boyfriend Nate are doing better than ever, and things at home are good, too. Everything’s been so calm, she hasn’t “tripped” back to the nineteenth century in ages. Then the unthinkable happens and she accidentally takes her rebellious brother Tim back in time. It’s 1862 with the Civil War brewing, and for Tim this spells adventure and excitement. Finding himself stuck in the past, he enlists in the Union army, but it doesn’t take long before he discovers real life war is no fun and games. Casey and Nate race against the clock to find Tim, but the strain wears on their relationship. It doesn’t help that the intriguing new boy next door has his sights on Casey, and isn’t shy to let her

Tuesday Writing Tip~Summer Writing

Happy May! With all the activity of spring and summer it can be hard to get any writing done. But, you don't have to miss out on all the fun just to keep your word count up. #WriteTip: Take a notebook with you and make a writing exercise out of your down time at the beach/lake/pool/whatever. You can write flash fiction (short fiction), record the five senses all around you, or people watch and record body language or conversation styles. All of this will keep your creative juices flowing and help your writing. Another bonus tip is to drop in on Twitter where we do #wordwars all the time. Basically writing sprints where we check in on Twitter and report our progress with those participating. Just search for or use the hashtag #wordwar to see if anyone is up for one. Also, don't miss the cover reveal for Susan Kaye Quinn's much anticipated Closed Hearts, the sequel to her fabulous debut novel Open Minds. Click here to check it out and leave her a comment!
